These elegant earrings are crafted of 925-sterling silver featuring a White PEARL and a genuine PREHNITE CABOCHON gemstone.
These Earrings feature my favorite gemstone, Prehnite. It is a beautiful, soft green stone and has inclusions that add depth and character the earrings.
A Dutch colonel, H. Von Prehn, is credited with discovering Prehnite in 1774 at the Cape of Good Hope in Africa. Early traders nicknamed the gemstone Cape Emerald in hopes of exploiting its green color. Prehnite was originally classified as a Zeolite, due to the fact that it usually forms in the same areas and under similar conditions as the zeolite. Today geologist place it in the phyllosilicate category which also includes apophyllite.
Prehnite is found in basaltic volcanic rocks, in intrusive igneous rocks, and in some metamorphic rocks as well. The pale green masses have been found in Scotland, dark green or greenish brown in Australia, and aggregates of crystals in France.
Initially Prehnite was rare, South Africa being the only known location for many, many years. Eventually pockets of the stone were found throughout the world, including the US, Canada, Austria, Germany, France and India.
Prehnite is considered a stone of unconditional love and the crystal to heal the healer. It enhances precognition and inner knowing. Enables you always to be prepared. Prehnite calms the environment and brings peace and protection. It teaches how to be in harmony with nature and the elemental forces.
PEARL – the ancient gemstone of the sea.
The pearl is the oldest known gem, and for many centuries it was considered the most valuable. Unlike all gems, the pearl is organic matter derived from a living creature – oysters and mollusks.
Pearls symbolize Purity, Spiritual Transformation, Charity, Honesty, Wisdom and Integrity, all the best within us. Pearls provide a clear vehicle for the advancing states of wisdom, as well as a clean channel for receipt of spiritual guidance.
Pearls can stimulate your femininity and help with self acceptance. They lift your spirits and make you feel calm and beautiful. They remind us to walk with Dignity.
Pearls not only provide a mirror in which to see ourselves, but give us insight into how we appear to others.
One Persian legend tells that pearls were created when a rainbow met the earth after a storm. Imperfections in a pearl’s appearance were thought to be the result of thunder and lightning.
The ancient Egyptians prized pearls so much that they were buried with them. Cleopatra reportedly dissolved a pearl from one of her earrings in a glass of either wine or vinegar, depending on the source, and drank it. She did this just to show Mark Anthony that she could devour the wealth of an entire nation in just one gulp.
Over time, the pearl has become the symbol of purity and innocence and it is often sewn into bridal gowns, or worn as jewelry by the bride.
