Earrings of this kind became popular in the New Kingdom during the 18th-20th Dynasties. Our earrings are based on a pair of gold earrings reportedly found near Deir el Bahri on the West Bank of the Nile at Thebes in 1893. They belonged to a man named Pasebakhaienipet who was a priest of Amun-Re, King of the Gods at the southern metropolis of Thebes.
