The original horse statuette (H. 11.5cm, W. 10cm, D 2.6cm) was cast in bronze by a Corinthian workshop, probably for dedication at a Greek sanctuary. Conceived in profile, the horse’s form has been abstracted and balanced in a wonderful proportional harmony that appears strikingly modern.
