Viking Rock Crystals

An exquisite silver framed rock crystal ball from the 13th Century

transition period between the Viking era and the Middle Ages.

The original was found in Fröjel (Gotland).

The original rock crystal necklace on which our jewelry is based was found on the island of Gotland in Sweden. It consists of eleven rock crystals in silver settings and ten granulated silver beads of varying sizes. This rare design is believed to have drawn its inspiration from Slavic fashion, most likely acquired through trade or raiding. From ancient to medieval times, rock crystal was believed to have talismanic properties.
