Calendula officinalis, commonly known as Pot marigold, Common Marigold, Garden Marigold or English Marigold, is native to southern Europe though its long history of cultivation makes its precise origin unknown and may possibly be of garden origin. It is also widely naturalized further north in Europe. This plant has a long history of culinary and medicinal uses and has been use as a dye.

The etymological root of the binomial name Calendula is derived from the Latin calendae ‘the first day of the month’, possibly alluding to the flowering of the plant throughout the year. Officinalis is derived from the Latin meaning ‘of the apothecaries’.

Many of us have set out on the path of enlightenment. We long for a release of self-hood in some kind of mystical union with all things.
But that moment of epiphany , when we finally see the whole pattern and sense our place in the cosmic web, can be a crushing experience from which we never fully recover. Compassion hurts. When you feel connected to everything, you also feel responsible for everything. You can not turn away. Your destiny is bound to the destinies of others. You must either learn to carry the Universe or be crushed by it. You must grow strong enough to love the world,
yet empty enough to sit down at the same table with its worst horrors. To seek enlightenment is to seek annihilation, rebirth, and the taking up of burdens.
You must come prepared to touch and be touched by each and every thing in heaven and hell... to be One with the Universe is going to hurt.

Acceptance is about accepting of life on life’s terms and not resisting what you cannot or choose not to change. Acceptance is about saying yes to life, just as it is.
Acceptance: openness to and engagement with present experience
Sometimes my clients behave as if they believe not accepting something will change the situation. It’s like accepting painful situations or emotions is being passive or giving in. That’s not it. It’s allowing reality to be as it is.

Other times clients don't want to feel the pain. There are many life situations that are painful and that are not in our control. We can't avoid that pain, but we can control how much we suffer over the pain that we experience. Suffering is the part we can control.

LARIMAR is the embodiment of the tranquil Sea and Sky energies.
Its soft, soothing blues and calming turquoise is streaked with white patterns that resemble sunlight dancing beneath Caribbean waters.
Larimar is one of the cardinal Water element stones, yet is born
of Fire in its volcanic origins. One of the few crystals to balance the polarities of these energies, Larimar cools tempers and calms fears, relieves stress and nurtures the physical and emotional bodies. It is powerful in meditation and in connecting to the Divine Feminine, and is particularly helpful in releasing emotional bonds, patterns or principles that no longer serve the highest good.

A stone of clear communication, it provides the strength and courage needed to speak openly from the heart.

A rare blue variety of Pectolite, Larimar is found only in the Dominican Republic in the Caribbean. It occurs as needle-like crystals, grown together in a solid mass and forms in cavities within basaltic lava. The copper substitution in Pectolite instead of calcium produces beautiful translucent shades of soft blues,
white and turquoise marked with streaks and patterns of white,
and may contain red or brown areas of oxidation or Hematite inclusions. The more intense the blue and contrast within the stone, the rarer and higher its value. Note: blue is photosensitive and may fade over time if exposed to too much light or heat.
Larimar is also known as the Dolphin Stone, Blue Pectolite, Atlantis Stone, and Stefilia's Stone. Originally discovered in 1916,
it was named by the Dominican who re-discovered it in 1974, taking the first letters of his daughter's name, Larissa, and the Spanish word for the sea, mar, to create Larimar.

    Medicine Buddha
This Thangka features Buddha Bhaisajyaguru, known as the master of remedies or Medicine Buddha, sitting cross legged on a lotus throne.
Commonly referred to as the "Medicine Buddha", he is described as a doctor who cures dukkha (suffering) using the medicine of his teachings.
The most distinctive feature of Bhaisajyaguru is his deep blue color.
The tone of the blue is lapis lazuli: the beautiful stone used to symbolize rarity and purity and it is said to have a curative or strengthening effect on those who wear it.
In his right hands he holds a myrobalan branch, important compound of several Tibetan medicines.
In his left hand a bowl containing three forms of a nectar to cures disease, counteracts aging and illuminates the mind.
Meditating in front of the Medicine Buddha can help decrease physical and mental illness and increasing healing powers both for oneself and others, but also for overcoming spiritual sickness, attachment, hatred, and ignorance.

The Twelve Vows of the Medicine Buddha upon attaining Enlightenment, according to the Medicine Buddha Sutra are:

To illuminate countless realms with his radiance, enabling anyone to become a Buddha just like him.
To awaken the minds of sentient beings through his light of lapis lazuli.
To provide the sentient beings with whatever material needs they require.
To correct heretical views and inspire beings toward the path of the Bodhisattva.
To help beings follow the Moral Precepts, even if they failed before.
To heal beings born with deformities, illness or other physical sufferings.
To help relieve the destitute and the sick.
To help women who wish to be reborn as men achieve their desired rebirth.
To help heal mental afflictions and delusions.
To help the oppressed be free from suffering.
To relieve those who suffer from terrible hunger and thirst.
To help clothe those who are destitute and suffering from cold and mosquitoes.

    [ad_1]
    BANDHAS
Bandhas are energetic locks that contain the prana. It’s a Sanskrit word meaning "lock," "seal," or "bond" /"bind." There are three bandhas, and they are basically muscular contractions that help you to breathe, focus on your awareness, keep your body strong, and give you a sense of lightness as you move through postures.

Working with the bandhas (yogic locks) can help us collect prana (life force) and tap into the subtle energetics of asana.
Bandhas are one of the three key principles in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga, alongside breath and drishti. There are three principal bandhas which are considered internal body locks:
    • Mūla Bandha; or root lock at the pelvic floor (drawing in the perineum)
    • Uḍḍīyāna Bandha; drawing back the abdomen, 2 inches below the navel
    • Jālaṅdhara Bandha; throat lock, achieved by lowering the chin slightly while raising the sternum.
Both Pattabhi Jois and Sharath Jois recommend practicing Mula and Uddiyana bandha even when not practicing asana. Pattabhi Jois has this to say: (translated quote) "You completely exhale, apply mulabandha and after inhaling you apply uddiyana bandha. Both bandhas are very important... After bandha practice, take (your attention) to the location where they are applied and maintain that attention at all times, while walking, talking, sleeping and when walk is finished. Always you control mulabandha".
    Connection between breath and bandhas
Sharath Jois says, "Without bandhas, breathing will not be correct, and the asanas will give no benefit".[

    Jalandhar Bandha:
Jalandhar Bandh contains two words, ‘Jala’ means ‘net’ and ‘Dhar’ means ‘to hold’. In this bandha the network of energy channels or nadis of the body is locked. This bandha is also known as chin lock.
    Uddiyana Bandha:
Uddiyana Bandha is practiced by pulling the abdomen inwards after exhalation and holding the breath outside. In this Bandha, the abdominal muscles presses the organs in the abdomen against the wall behind the organ, next to the spinal column.
    Mula Bandha:
It is also known as root lock. It is practiced at the root of spine. Through the practice of this bandha we can gain a certain amount of control over this energy. It eliminates bodily ailments along with the increase of the vital energy.

Picasso Jasper is said to attract positive people into ones life and support and encourage friendships to blossom in healthy loving ways, and also help renew old friendships that may have been lost. It has strong grounding and calming quality that helps to encourage strength and self-discipline.
Picasso Jasper is said to help to remind us to celebrate life and to help us to realise that it is not too late to enjoy ourselves and to ‘live a little’.
Picasso Jasper is also believed to promote the development of creativity and to bring strength and self-discipline. It is thought to bring calm to difficult situations and to encourage us to relax and enjoy life.
Jasper is a variety of quartz. All quartz is considered to be quite durable compared to most other gemstones.
As with most gemstones, avoid the use of any harsh household chemicals (bleach, sulfuric acid etc.) when caring for or cleaning jasper. Jasper is quite porous which allows it to be easily stained, absorbing other chemicals and colors very easily. Avoid prolonged exposure to extreme heat, as heating quartz can permanently alter the color of your gemstones. When storing jasper, wrap it in a soft cloth and place it inside a fabric-lined box for added protection.

There are 3 bodily forces called “nyepas” in the Tibetan language. These“nyepas,” phlegm, wind and bile, according to Tibetan medical knowledge, compose the human body and characterize the individual force or forces that each of us is made of.This practice suggests that through understanding the dominant force or forces of one’s
constitution it is possible to make decisions that will help the individual move toward the ideal inner balance.
Diet, conduct, medicines, and external therapies are the primary methods used to lower elevated forces and help to achieve that inner balance.

Tibetan Medicine focuses on the direct healing of the patient’s body/mind with the help of the appropriate medicines, diet, behaviour and therapies to pacify the result of mental negative passions. Physical medicine was not considered enough to uproot the causes of disease; therefore Buddha taught the method to become aware of, and to pacify, negative emotions.

    Tibetan Medicine
Tibet, the land of snow mountains, once an isolated secret kingdom, has a centuries old medicine system, called Sowa Riga, which means the Science of Healing. Once a monastic secret knowledge, the lineage of this system can be traced back to at least the first century AD and is still going strong today.
Physical illness from the Buddhist perspective, is closely bound with mental, social and spiritual illness. Disturbing emotions such as the three mental poisons of attachment, anger and closed-mindedness, are said to cause disharmony in bodily energies and can cause disease. For Buddhists, when the mind is liberated from ignorance and delusion, it is considered to be “free from disease.”

Tibetan medicine teaches that the purpose of life is to be happy. By using Tibetan medicine for self-care, it is possible to become aware of how your thoughts and behaviours influence your health and happiness. Tibetan medicine includes philosophy, science, and healing practices that can help create and maintain a healthy mind and body. It is a holistic mind body medicine from the roof of the world that makes use of rare herbs grown at high altitudes.

Tibetan medicine teaches that the purpose of life is to be happy.

Ladakh is one of the few remaining Himalayan area where the Tibetan system of medicine remains undisturbed. This indigenous health care system plays a major part in the health care of Ladakhi communities. Tibetan medicine known in Ladakh as 'Amchi' medicine has usually been passed down from fathers to son or daughter within the village. This is known as the GYUTPA lineage. New 'Amchis' have to take their passing out examination orally in front of the whole village. Thereby they are examined by a panel of respected senior Amchis from surrounding villages. In every village, there is usually one or sometimes two amchi families.

Many Amchis practise Buddhist astrology and astronomy. These subjects play an important role within Amchi medical practise as they do within Ladakhi society in general. In fact, there is very strong relationship between Buddhist astrology and Tibetan medicine.
