Hematite Heart shaped Stone

The name hematite is derived from the Greek word for blood αἷμα haima, due to the red coloration found in some varities of hematite. The color of hematite lends itself to use as a pigment.
Hematite is colored black to steel or silver-gray, brown to reddish brown, or red.
While the forms of hematite vary, they all have a rust-red streak. Hematite is harder than pure iron, but much more brittle.

The spectral signature of hematite was seen on the planet Mars by the infrared spectrometer on the NASA Mars Global Surveyor ("MGS") and 2001 Mars Odyssey spacecraft in orbit around Mars.
The mineral was seen in abundance at two sites on the planet, the Terra Meridiani site, near the Martian equator at 0° longitude, and the Aram Chaos site near the Valles Marineris.

HEMATITE is without any doubt a grounding stone and stone of protection. This can be deducted from its color at the first place, but also from the general characteristics that put it within the group of crystals and gemstones that have their impact on the root chakra, muladhara.

HEMATITE grounds and protects us. It strengthens our connection with the earth, making us feel safe and secure. It endows us with courage, strength, endurance and vitality. A "stone for the mind", Hematite stimulates concentration and focus, enhancing memory and original thought.

HEMATITE utilises the magnetic qualities of our yin-yang energies to balance the meridians within the body and to provide a stable equilibrium between the ethereal nervous system and the physical nervous system. It focuses energy and emotions for balance between the body, mind and spirit.
As far as the healing powers are considered, hematite is able to heal and regenerate those forces within our organism which are related to blood circulation, and skin rejuvenation.
We know that throughout history, in the ancient Vedic astrology, as well as in the western astrology and esoteric practice, iron has always been associated with planet Mars. Actually today we have scientific evidences that hematite as iron ore is present on this planet. Therefore, if one wants to incorporate the attributes of Mars, that is, extreme, uncompromising energy, courage, strength, and will , there is no better stone than hematite. The connection is so straightforward that it is a mystery to me why this link is not recognized more widely.

HEMATITE's popularity in jewelry was at its highest in Europe during the Victorian era. Certain types of hematite or iron oxide-rich clay, especially Armenian bole, have been used in gilding.
